WA and the construction industry

Material handling

  • The construction of infrastructure, including roads and railway lines, can require significant landscaping, digging, the moving of millions of cubic metres of earth and rocks and subsequent ground compaction.  Maintenance costs of bulldozers, loaders, power shovels, dumpers and levellers are reduced by usage of highly resistant wearplates and local application of hardfacing using WA Cored Wires.

Tunnel boring machines

  • Tunnel boring machines (TBM) are sophisticated equipment working in very challenging environments.  According to the composition of the rock, the cutting head is fitted with teeth or with cutting discs.  Integra Service Centres have specific techniques to improve the service life of components, using WA Cored Wires in conjunction with MultiSurfacer equipment.

Steel reinforcement bars (rebars)

  • Steel reinforced concrete is the main construction method used for infrastructure and large buildings.  The welding of steel reinforcement bars (also known as rebars) to create the steel framework is generally done on site. A specific cored wire, designed and developed in collaboration with the construction industry, contributes to savings in construction costs by enabling fast assembly of steel frameworks, whilst ensuring the highest quality standards.

Steel frames

  • Steel frames composed of girders, beams and columns generally consist of standard elements.  However, specific joints are prefabricated to reduce assembly time on site.  WA Cored Wires produce reliable welds for all types of welded surfaces and are designed for high productivity.
