For the welding assembly of agricultural machinery and for wear resistant ground engaged tools.

  • Ground engaged tools such as plough shears, chisel points, tines, rotary cultivators and subsoilers are subjected to wear by abrasion.  Producers of agricultural machinery, specialised suppliers of spare parts and users of agricultural machinery have experienced great increases in the wear of components' service life using WA cored wires.

Transport and handling of cereals and oilseeds.

  • Pneumatic transport systems are often used for the loading of seeds onto ships and barges, and composite abrasion-resistant Hardlite plates are proven to be the best long-term solution for telescopic pipes due to their ultra-light weight and extreme resistance to abrasion.

Oil press components

  • The fully automated MultiSurfacer screw flight rebuilding equipment is used by the leading producers of single or double screw oil press components.  The custom-designed machine enables screw flights to be automatically hardfaced on all their external surfaces, resulting in high quality surface finish and high productivity.

Sugar cane industry

  • In the sugar cane industry, the cane shredding equipment is subjected to heavy wear from foreign material and abrasives collected during the cane harvesting.  The regular exchange of wear components in the crusher can be minimised by the use of WA Cored Wires and welding techniques.  The hardfaced hammers and impact plates are subjected to both impact and abrasion and, therefore, there is considerable attention to the correct material selection for the extension of the service lifetime.

  • In sugar crushing mills (sugar from cane), improved juice extraction and efficiency is achieved by automated arcing before the crushing campaign (dry arcing) and during the crushing campaign (wet arcing). The automation of the arcing is a huge benefit to the mill operator by enabling optimal and repetitive droplet size, greater efficiency of arcing material ahedsion to the roll surface and greater productivity.  A range of WA Cored Wires developed for this application provides excellent performance in the tough service environment.
