WA History

 

Welding Alloys’ unique expertise is drawn from years of commitment to research and development of specialised products and solutions:

1966:  Welding Alloys Ltd is founded in Fowlmere, near Cambridge (UK) by Jan Stekly
1968:  Welding Alloys starts producing hardfacing cored wires
1971:  Welding Alloys develops and builds the first cored wire production line
1973:    The first Welding Alloys European company is opened in France, and this is the beginning of the Welding Alloys Group (WA Group)



In the 70’s, concerned with the productivity and the need for automation, Welding Alloys Group designed the first generation of machines, especially developed for heavy-duty hardfacing of components in the construction and steel industry.
1974:  WA designs and manufactures its first generation of welding equipments
1976:  WA Group opens its first African company in South Africa
1981:  The first WA Group Asian company opens in Malaysia
1986:  WA USA is the first company opened in the Americas

In the early 90’s the first Integra Service Centre is created specifically oriented towards the development and applications of hardfacing solutions.

 

1996:   WA Group develops new technology for continuous manufacturing of seamless flux cored wire
1999:  WA Group establishes its first company in China
2006:  WA Group celebrates its 40th anniversary with employees from around the globe
2009:  The quinquennial WA Group meeting is held in Cambridge (UK) and plans for our future growth are made!!!
2010:  WA Group opens its subsidiaries in Sweden and Taiwan
