The Automation Engineer will be instrumental in ensuring and enhancing the automation of our equipment and machinery to improve their functionality and ease of use. This role is critical in maintaining the high standards of quality and efficiency that Welding Alloys is known for.

Job purpose:

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in industrial automation, particularly in manufacturing environments.
  • Technical proficiency in English and familiarity with industry-specific software and ERP systems.

Working Conditions

  • This position may require occasional travel.
  • The role involves both office-based work and on-site activities in industrial environments.
  • Work location is Johor Bharu, Malaysia

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement functional analysis of installations to develop or modify automation programs.
  • Determine and integrate suitable electronic / electrical equipment for installations.
  • Conduct rigorous testing of automation programs both in workshops and on-site to ensure robust functionality.
  • Provide technical support and training to users, facilitating optimal use of automated equipment.
  • Develop and manage documentation such as equipment specifications, operation manuals, and maintenance guides for automated systems.
  • Perform ongoing adjustments and updates to automation systems to meet changing requirements and to enhance performance.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure that automation projects align with overall business goals and comply with all regulatory standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in various programming languages and automation software with a deep understanding of industrial automation systems, include the following:

Programming Languages:

  • List
  • Block
  • Graphset
  • Ladder
  • C, C++ (desirable)
  • SQL (desirable)

Environments:

  • Codesys (essential)
  • Parker environment (desirable)

Communication protocols:

  • Modbus
  • Ethercat

 

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and plans.
  • Experience in deploying robotics and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to assess the feasibility of projects based on available resources.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to propose continuous improvements based on observational feedback.
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of tailoring complex information to diverse audiences.
