The role

The Group HR Director is a critical role within the Welding Alloys Group (WAG), responsible for providing strategic HR leadership across the organisation.  Reporting directly to the CEO and part of the Executive Team, this role will ensure the development and execution of global HR strategies, processes, and policies that align with WAG’s vision and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a global HR vision aligned with the company’s strategic goals and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
  • Health, Safety, and Wellbeing: Oversee H&S across the Group, ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of safety and employee wellbeing.
  • Talent Management: Lead initiatives such as the Learning Management System – ensuring our people have the skills and knowledge required to reach their full potential.
  • Employee Engagement:  Cultivate a positive working environment by leading employee engagement initiatives, including the annual staff survey process.
  • Recruitment: Support senior-level recruitment, ensuring a smooth onboarding process and effective integration for new hires.
  • HR Operations: Lead, inspire, and develop the central Group HR team as well as the location HR representatives.
  • Employee Relations: Support sites as required in high level or complex employee relations matters.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation and efficiency within all HR functions.

What we are looking for:

  • A proven HR leader with experience in a global environment.
  • Degree-level qualification and CIPD (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience in inspiring HR teams in a matrixed, international environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering results.
  • Willingness to travel internationally
