Screw feeders are used in a large number of material handling applications such as, pulp and paper, cement, waste handling, agriculture and many more. All these industries use screw type conveyors and feeders to transport, meter and control the feed rate with every turn.
Material fed via the inlet, travels along the screw feeder and is delivered to the discharge. The amount of material processed is controlled by the design of the screw pitch and speed of rotation. The type of material fed via the inlet can impact the wear of the screw leading to abrasion, corrosion and erosion.
Wear to the screw flight, shaft and casing result in reduced volumes of material transported leading to inaccurate metering or blockages. This can result in total loss of transport of material and subsequent plant down time, if components are not repaired and maintained.
