Winter has arrived, but we are still happy with a full order book!
With our continuous efforts in LEAN, 5S, and responsible workmanship, we are very proud to share with our colleagues that we have exceeded 1000 days with no LTIs and we aim to continue with zero accidents. We value our staff and their safety, so we will focus on reducing the number of near misses to ensure we achieve our perpetual goal of zero accidents.
Finally, our customer base, the steel industry, is increasing their production capacity, which is great for us because it means they require more of our services! We also see a trend where more importance is being placed on the total cost of operating the slab caster rather than just price per unit, which has helped increase our business this year. Things are going well so far and we see 2019 being a strong year for us.
In planning for the future, we are right in the middle of our largest capex in the last 10 years. We have invested in a new multi machining center, Doosan Puma 800XLY. The machine has a lathe for workpieces up to 5 meters in length and 7 tonnes, and is equipped with driven tools for multi machining. We are planning to install the machine during Q1, 2019. This will strengthen our position in manufacturing pinch rolls, and larger thin slabcaster rolls. It will also increase our capacity for conventional slab caster rolls.
Finally, we would like to say a special thanks to our colleagues from WA Russia and WA Poland, who have helped us to increase our sales in their territory. I hope that we can work together with more colleagues around the world, cracking deals and increasing productivity for customers.
Keep Sparking, from the Dalforsån team!
