Superduplex flux cored wires: new generation

Common requirements for superduplex  weld  metal  in  terms of corrosion resistance can be challenging to  achieve  with  slag bearing processes (shielded metal arc, flux cored arc or submerged arc welding).

There are often difficulties to satisfy to the 35°C criterion for the FeCl3 test as per ASTM G 48 method A or weight loss criterion

< 10 mdd as per ASTM A 923 method C.

Welding Alloys Group has recently developed a new generation of flux cored wires, which meet these criteria.

For submerged arc welding, cored wires with matching strip make it possible to operate at parameters not applicable with solid wires. This is an advantage because it makes it possible to weld at heat inputs that are suitable to obtain sound microstructures and high productivity.

For flux cored arc welding, with wires produced from a fully alloyed strip and optimized slag system, it becomes possible to meet the required corrosion resistance with consistency on an extended parameter range.
