Expanding the boundaries of repair: Welding Alloys now refurbishing ceramic grinding tables in situ, and in our workshops.

Welding Alloys has taken a significant step forward in its global wear protection offering by successfully extending its proven ceramic roll repair techniques to ceramic grinding tables. This advancement has already delivered excellent results in the US, Guatemala, Vietnam and the UK.

Ceramic components such as rolls and tables are vital to the performance of Vertical Roller Mills (VRMs) in the cement and coal industries. Designed for high wear resistance, they eventually require refurbishment — a challenge given the complex nature of ceramic materials. Welding Alloys has long led the way in rebuilding worn ceramic rolls, using an innovative method that avoids gouging, reduces downtime, and achieves equal or improved service life.

Now, that same expertise has been applied to grinding tables, allowing them to be rebuilt either in our workshops or in situ.

Welding Alloys UK recently completed its first-ever ceramic table repair in the workshop. The project not only delivered a high-quality solution for the customer but also marked a new milestone for the UK team, reinforcing their technical capabilities and commitment to supporting industry with sustainable wear solutions.

In Guatemala, the local team successfully refurbished a ceramic grinding table in situ at a local cement plant. Although the original plan included onsite support from the US Integra™ team, the Guatemalan technicians managed to successfully carry out the repair through remote coordination and training, completing the job independently. Their excellent work has already led to further opportunities at the same site.

Welding Alloys Vietnam completed its first ceramic table liner repair earlier this year, with support from global colleagues. The collaboration between teams further highlights our ability to share technical knowledge across regions and deliver consistent, high-quality results.

These achievements build on previous successes, based on techniques developed by our technical experts at Welding Alloys USA, and reflect a growing demand for in situ refurbishment of ceramic components. Customers are increasingly seeking ways to extend the life of expensive parts without sacrificing production efficiency or incurring long lead times.

With over 50 years of experience, Welding Alloys continues to develop cutting-edge solutions through its global R&D and Integra™ teams. By enabling the repair of worn ceramic grinding components without replacement, we’re helping customers reduce costs, limit waste, and achieve better environmental outcomes — all while maintaining production rates.
